Job Title: Education and Emerging Artists Marketing Executive  

Reports to: Director of Marketing and Communications  

Supervises: Casual and volunteer staff as required  

Location of Job: Zetland, Gadigal Country with other Australian locations considered

Reporting/working relationships  The position reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications. The role works closely with the Director of Education, Education team and State Managers, to ensure education marketing strategies increased reach with diverse participants. This position also works closely with the Emerging Artists team to support their work including the two Competitions MVA runs - Strike a Chord, MVA’s National Chamber Music Championship for secondary school ensembles and the Melbourne International Chamber Music Festival, a competition which takes place every four years, attracting professional ensembles from all over the world.  

The position also works closely with the Marketing and Box Office team, Database Administrator, and PR and communications, digital marketing and social media functions to ensure campaigns are fully integrated. 

Responsibilities  

Campaign Execution  

  • Plan and implement effective MVA In Schools and Emerging Artist marketing campaigns (digital, advertising, direct marketing, print, digital and online promotion) with support from the Director of Marketing and Communications, to increase the reach and impact of MVA’s education work  
  • Work with suppliers to ensure the most cost-effective and timely outcomes for marketing campaigns.  
  • Work with the in-house designer to ensure all marketing campaign material is designed to brief and schedule.   
  • Regularly liaise with Education team and state and territory teams on market needs and campaigns. 
  • Manage the marketing of MVA In Schools Professional Development event, including working with Box Office to set up events in Tessitura, developing campaign material.   
  • Administer the MVA In Schools and Emerging Artists marketing budgets ensuring they are kept up-to-date, with support from the Director of Marketing and Communications   
  • Develop post-campaign dashboards , to analyse campaign strategies and provide actionable insights.  
  • Plan content for all MVA In Schools/Education and Emerging Artists email campaigns.  
  • Work with the Digital Marketing Manager, education and marketing team to ensure related sections of the Musica Viva Australia website are accurate, engaging and improve the audience experience. 
  • Work with the Marketing team to commission relevant digital content.  

Database 

  • Maintain, extract and analyse customer sales data from Tessitura, including tracking acquisition and retention of customer segments, producing weekly sales reports.   
  • Under the guidance of the Database Administrator and Ticketing and CRM Manager, leverage the Tessitura CRM and box office system to gain customer insights, design direct marketing campaigns and inform marketing campaigns more broadly.  

Organisational  

  • Maintain healthy work relationships with volunteers and other staff members.  
  • Contribute to regular and ongoing quality improvement and required accreditation activities.  
  • Participate in professional and performance development activities and remain up-to-date on current knowledge and skills related to the position.  
  • Take reasonable care for his/her own health and safety and for the health and safety of anyone else who may be affected by his/her acts or omissions at the workplace.  
  • Hold a valid Working with Children Check. MVA will cover the cost of obtaining or renewing the check.  
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards, confidentiality and cultural awareness when dealing with others.

  • In addition to the duties outlined above, the position holder is also required to perform such other duties as may be directed, provided these are within his/her competency or training from time to time.   

Essential Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Abilities: 

  • Experience in direct marketing, including briefing and overseeing creative development, strategy and post-campaign analysis.   
  • Highly motived, energetic and enthusiastic professional.   
  • Ability to collaborate, work in a team and communicate with multiple stakeholders  
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including effective negotiation skills.  
  • Eye for detail and a demonstrated ability to work under pressure, with accuracy and efficiency.  
  • Tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications or other related discipline or comparable work experience.  
  • Financial and analytical skills to effectively manage budgets and measure campaign success.  
  • Interest/knowledge of music education/live performances.
