Sydney Morning Masters
Artistic Director Welcome
It’s the command a musician holds over their instrument. It’s the expertise of a composer who moves us to the core. It’s also the centrepiece of Sydney Morning Masters – our series of live concerts designed to showcase excellence.
Tenor Andrew Goodwin and pianist Sonya Lifschitz call on their shared love of Russian repertoire to open a program of miniature masterpieces: artsongs, folksongs, piano solos, and a burst of jazz inspiration.
Equally impressive are the chamber music masters the Goldner String Quartet. This internationally revered group is named after Musica Viva Australia founder Richard Goldner, and we’re proud to showcase the legacy.
The seamless singers of Vocal Detour bloom at their best in works inspired by nature, including a world premiere by Yuin composer Brenda Gifford.
Period instrumentalists of The Muffat Collective conjure the warmth of taverns and music rooms, where 17th- and 18th-century listeners enjoyed their favourite hits.
And violinist Harry Bennetts joins pianist Vatche Jambazian to perform three perfect jewels from the treasure chest of violin recital repertoire: Schubert, Strauss, and Messiaen.
All that before lunch.
Sydney Morning Masters is supported by the Wenkart Foundation.
